The MULES in MY world!

Since this is a very new blog...I'd like to introduce the mules in MY world...😊
The molly mule that I mentioned in my introduction, (first post)...is Maude! She was a yearling when we brought her home, she's now 23! As I said, I knew nothing about mules, before seeing her as a baby, and falling in love!! In fact, in 1993, the year she was born, I had to have my "heart" horse put down...Poor Boy, a double registered Quarter App. I had him for 19 years...he was 23 when I lost him to cancer. That day, was the worst day of my life. Afterwards, I sold my saddles, bridles, pads, trailer...everything connected to a horse. I told my husband, I'd never have another horse...loved them too much to let them go. BUT, then Maude came into our view! On the way, to pay for her..Larry said, "I thought you said you'd never have another horse!"...my reply? "Well, technically, I'm not!"...😊...

Then, there's my true heart...Solomon...when Maude was about 3, my two youngest boys, (Zachary and Jordan), were showing interest in riding. Maude wasn't quite the beginner mount, so I started looking for something more suitable for them. Through my farrier, I found a 16 year old registered leopard Appaloosa mare...dead broke, beautiful and built like a tank! She became ours and was perfect for my younger kids! It wasn't long before folks started suggesting that I find a suitable stallion and breed her...breeding fees were much more than I wanted to pay for a baby, so I gave up the quest! A few weeks went by and a neighbor came by...Frank Johnson was a farmer in the area and was known for his black mammoth jack and the mule goals he produced! Frank mentioned breeding Freckles to his jack, for $50.00...in fact, his jack was Maude's daddy, too!! So, at the age of 17, Freckles was bred! Almost a year later, on April 12, 1998...my King Solomon took his first breath!!

Then, there's my ChaCha! Several years ago, I wanted a pair of wagon mules...ended up with a beautiful team of Haflinger mares...Dolly and Minnie! They were wonderful, but I had my heart set on a team of mules!! I found a beautiful, strawberry roan, mammoth jack and bred my mates! ChaCha belongs to Minnie! She is now 8 years old, broke to ride and is currently in training for pulling! She has a team mate, (Mr. Leroy), but I don't have any current pics of him...just bought him, in March, 2016...There'll be some added soon!!!
